Breakfast in America

No, I did not fly back to the States for one meal, although don’t lie – I know that most of you would not be surprised if I did. However, I did go to a diner-esque restaurant called “Breakfast in America.” Very straightforward. Can you guess what kind of meal I had? Breakfast. I’ve never been so desperate for familiarity, so it was extremely nice going to this American-style diner, having a big breakfast compared to the “petit déjeuners” that the French have, where they spoke the English the moment we went in and everything was American and in English and just great. Did I tell you they spoke English? There was even a chocolate-peanut butter milkshaked called the “Obama.” No comment.

I ordered fresh squeezed OJ and “CC’s Big Mess,” which is an egg scramble with bacon, ham, sausage, onions, peppers, mushrooms, avocado, with cheddar cheese melted on top and a side of salsa, all served on a pile of home fries.

They even had an old-fashion toaster by every table!!
