Cho Dang Gol – Best Korean Food in NYC

I’m an easily excitable person, but few things make me happier than good food. ESPECIALLY good Korean food.

Other than Korea itself, LA and NYC have the best Korean food, and I’m lucky enough to live right by the Korean Mecca in New York. Surprise!!!! GOOD RUCK ERRYBUDDY ERSE!!!

As soon as you step onto 32nd and Broadway, it’s Koreans everywhere, although these days, it’s gotten to be a bit more diverse since Korean food and culture have hit the mainstream.

look how happy that rando looks

Anyway, let it be known that THE BEST Korean restaurant in the city is Cho Dang Gol 초당골.  All Korean meals come with a variety of side dishes, and even those were the best I’ve had in the city, especially the Kimchi. I was tempted to ask for some to take home (I honestly don’t know why I didn’t…)

One of my favorite dishes is Kimchi Pancake 김치전, so of course I ordered that (below).IMG_3884 My friends and I also ordered Spicy Galbi (Short Rib Stew) 매운갈비찜 with rice cakes. THAT was amazing. If you take the soup part and put it on rice, be prepared for your eyes to roll to the back of your head (in a good way). IMG_3885We also ordered Jap Chae, a very traditional noodle dish.

At the end of the meal, we were given warm cinnamon tea, which was the perfect palette ender, subtle and not too sweet.

It was one of the most delicious Korean meals I’ve ever had; we almost had to roll my friend back and my vision was going blurry (in the best way possible).

Definitely going back as often A$AP ROCKY. Seriously, get the Spicy Galbi (Short Rib) Stew. Probably one of the best things EVER. Salivating just thinking about it. I highly recommend you make a reservation beforehand or don’t go when there’s potential to become too hangry, as I did.

Cho Dang Gol (haha, when I typed that out, I almost wrote Cho Dang Gol…yikes)
